Hellish Couples
Kelly P. Gallagher
A man goes to hell and makes himself right at home. Another says to him, “You act like you own the place.” The man answers, I should, I got it often enough from my boss and my wife. We will discuss four hellish couples from the Bible. They are hellish because they are increasingly evil, out of order, and cause intense pain and suffering to each other, their children, and the nation that is unfortunate enough to have them as citizens. 1) Adam & Eve 2) Samson & Delilah 3) Jezebel & Ahab 4) Mystery couple These four couples cover the history of man from start to finish. They are progressively worse as the parade of time marches on and will culminate in our mystery couple. You have to wait to the end to find out - kind of like the Dating Game. From the beginning, Satan has tried to undermine and pervert the relationship of men and women, which are the bedrock of society and the church. By studying the “hellish couples” perhaps we can learn to avoid the pitfalls and snares of these couples and shine as lights to a society and church that is crumbling because of the break down of relationships, marriages, and churches. A man bought his wife a burial plot for her birthday. The next year he got her nothing and she complained. He said, “You didn’t use the present I got you last year!” Sadly, this is how a man will feel if he marries the wrong woman.
Adam & Eve Why did Adam live in paradise? He had no mother-in-law. Adam asked God, “Why did you make such a beautiful woman?” “To get you interested.” “Why did you give her such a sweet personality.” “To get you to fall in love with her.” “Then why did you make her so dumb.” “To get her to fall in love with you.” Eve was the only woman who ever took a man’s side. This lesson was going to be titled “Couples Made in Hell,” but Adam and Eve at least were made in heaven, but became a hellish couple after the fall. Satan corrupted that relationship, and by studying what happened we will see that Adam & Eve are the prototype of hellish couples. Gen 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living. Gen 4:1 And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. 2 Cor 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. Gen 2:23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Gen 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Rom 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. 1 Tim 2:13 For Adam was first formed, then Eve. 1 Tim 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. We can see that it was Adam’s transgression that caused the fall, because he had listened to the voice of his wife, who told him to disobey the command of God. The First Book of Moses, Called Genesis, Chapter 3 1 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? 2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: 3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. Eve was the first textual critic, after the Serpent, who questioned the word of God (Did God say that?) Here Eve has misquoted the Word of God and twisted it. She was obviously rebelling against the limitations that God put on her and Adam. She lied by saying that she was not even to touch it - for God said not to eat of it. 4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: 5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. 6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. One reason that woman are forbidden to teach or usurp authority over the man is the tendency to be deceived. Eve was deceived by the looks of the tree and the desire to be wise outside of God’s domain. Witchcraft practitioners and sorcerers are similar in that they seek knowledge and power outside of God’s limits. 7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 8 And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? 12 And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat. Here is the problem with this couple. It is blaming the woman for making him do something, when he allowed the leadership role to pass to the woman. It is men’s fault today for the reversal of authority in society and in the church. They have given to the authority to women by default, by being passive and unspiritual. 13 And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat. 14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: 15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. 16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. 17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; Adam should have protected Eve from the serpent, if it was possible and even if she had eaten it, he should have refused to join her. A man can’t let love for his wife lead him to disobey God, for in effect, she becomes an idol. As the hellish couples progress, we see that the woman of evil seduces and entices men, as Satan did to Eve. They must find a man who is open to that enticement, through passivity and lust. The tendency of women is to witchcraft and men to idolatry of the women. Prov 11:22 As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion. Eccles 7:26 And I find more bitter than death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands: whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the sinner shall be taken by her. 1 Cor 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. 1 Cor 11:9 Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. 1 Tim 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. 1 Tim 2:14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notice that Adam was not deceived. He knew what he was doing. Eve was in the transgression, but Adam was responsible for it. His love for his wife was more than his love for God, therefore it was not true love, but idolatry. If he really loved Eve, he would have taught her the word of God and protected her. If Eve loved God, she would trust Him that His commandments are not to keep something good from her. As Elvis Presley sang, “A hard headed woman, a soft hearted man, been the cause of trouble ever since the world began.”
Samson & Delilah The Book of Judges, Chapter 16 1 Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her. Samson opened up the door for extreme spirits of lust by going to a prostitute. The spirit of whoredoms is the depths of Satan, which is the spirit of Jezebel. As history progresses, the spirits of whoredoms will enter the church. There were cult prostitutes in the days of Ahab and Jezebel. 4 And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. 5 And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver. Judas betrayed Christ for only 30 pieces of silver. Each Lord of the Philistines (at least seven) promised to give Delilah 1100 pieces of silver each. They were going to make her a millionaire. How many women sell their souls and bodies for money? How many men do the same? It is the spirit of whoredoms that will grow stronger until our mystery couple. This spirit is a spirit of betrayal and murder. 6 And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee. 7 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man. 8 Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them. 9 Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known. 10 And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound. 11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man. The spirit of Samson is a spirit of cavalier attitude toward God. Samson had been given gifts of superhuman strength from God. Delilah used mind control, whoredoms, and lust manipulation to get Samson to reveal what would make him like other men. After the first time, Samson should have run, but his lust for Delilah’s beauty and sexual powers made him passive even though he knew she was out to destroy him. This spirit in wives can drive a man crazy with incessant demands for more money. Many men work themselves to death to please their ungodly and greedy wives (which is idolatry). The men are accountable to God for allowing their Delilah wives to make them spiritually passive and carnal. 12 Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread. 13 And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web. 14 And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web. 15 And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth. 16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death; Delilah was a prostitute. The spirit of harlotry is one of the most powerful and evil spirits. We will see this spirit fully manifest in our mystery couple later on. Even though Samson knew that Delilah was trying to kill him and betray him to the Philistines, for money, he did not stop her. The witchcraft that Delilah used on Samson was effective through an ungodly soul tie. We must never allow ourselves to marry an ungodly woman, no matter how beautiful and sweet she appears, for that woman will ruin a Christian man. Even if she says she is a Christian, if she is carnal, don’t try to change her - run away and find a godly woman. We must be equally yoked. No man should get married until he is spiritually mature, or he will be deceived by a false soul tie. Sampson’s lust for Delilah, which he confused for love, caused him to become both physically and spiritually blind. 17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man. 18 And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand. This spirit operating in women will make their husbands not trust them. They will get their husbands to open up to them and violate that trust or use that knowledge to humiliate or destroy them. They return evil for good. Delilah will go home to momma and cry and tell every secret in the marriage and triangle friends and family members and destroy the marriage by gossip and revealing intimacies. The husband will either cease communicating to women under this spirit, or get so frustrated that they will fall into sin with a woman who respects and keeps secrets between them, who can be trusted. 19 And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him. 20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him. To whom much is given, much is required. The spirit of Samson has his discernment destroyed. A man under this spirit will not want to stay in the word of God, but will crave pornography and the sensual pleasures. He will have no discernment of the presence of God and consequently will not have his protection. Ecclesiastes says, “He who breaks a hedge (of protection) a serpent shall bite him.” Eve also broke the hedge of protection around her by rebelling in her heart and not submitting to her husband. 21 But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house. This is what the spirit of Delilah will do : She seeks after godly men, men used of God, like Samson. She will cause his eyes to be put out and bring him into a prison of bondage. These spirits are working in men, who, like Samson, are not disciplined in their minds and eyes and have not crucified the flesh with its affections and lusts and sought deliverance from spirits of lust, self-deception, spiritual passivity, laziness, a cavalier attitude, and lack of fear of the Lord. Bind these demons and loose the spirit of the fear of the Lord and discipline on ourselves and family.
JEZEBEL AND AHAB 1 Kgs 16:30 And Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the LORD above all that were before him. 1 Kgs 16:33 And Ahab made a grove; and Ahab did more to provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him. Ahab was the son of Omri, the most wicked king up to that point, according to the scriptures. His son took it a level deeper into witchcraft and sin. If we don’t break the curses of these demons, especially the curses of Ahab and Jezebel over ourselves and our family lines, they tend to worsen with each generation. The demons of the dead transfer to their offspring and relatives - if they are open to them. 1 Kgs 21:2 And Ahab spake unto Naboth, saying, Give me thy vineyard, that I may have it for a garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money. 1 Kgs 21:3 And Naboth said to Ahab, The LORD forbid it me, that I should give the inheritance of my fathers unto thee. 1 Kgs 21:4 And Ahab came into his house heavy and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him: for he had said, I will not give thee the inheritance of my fathers. And he laid him down upon his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no bread. Jezebel comes in and finds Ahab depressed. He was having a childish pity party and temper tantrum. The spirit of Ahab always includes a spirit of arrested development and immaturity. She ridicules him and calls his authority into question. She disrespects him, emasculates him, and constantly puts him down. She does this so that she can take the authority. Jezebel was the daughter of the high priest of the Zidonians, who worshipped Baal, the sun God, as the Roman church does today. Her father’s name included Baal. She was a religious witch, and as these spirits grow in power culminating in our mystery couple, it will possess, not just individuals, by nations and world systems. 1 Kgs 21:8 So she wrote letters in Ahab's name, and sealed them with his seal, and sent the letters unto the elders and to the nobles that were in his city, dwelling with Naboth. Ahab is another spirit of passivity. Ahab let his wife take his authority, and she used his authority to commit murder. Murder brings many curses, including the curse of the vagabond for killing innocent blood. These spirits follow any house that has Ahab/Jezebel. This is why God kills her children with death. Unless these spirits are dealt with, the children will suffer both spiritual and physical death. Oral Roberts’ son committed suicide. All seventy of Ahab’s sons were killed. Suicide, murder, accidents, etc. will fall to the children of Ahab/Jezebel. Spiritual death has come upon the church because of the operation of these spirits. 1 Kgs 21:15 And it came to pass, when Jezebel heard that Naboth was stoned, and was dead, that Jezebel said to Ahab, Arise, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, which he refused to give thee for money: for Naboth is not alive, but dead. 1 Kgs 21:20 And Ahab said to Elijah, Hast thou found me, O mine enemy? And he answered, I have found thee: because thou hast sold thyself to work evil in the sight of the LORD. 1 Kgs 21:21 Behold, I will bring evil upon thee, and will take away thy posterity, and will cut off from Ahab him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, 1 Kgs 21:24 Him that dieth of Ahab in the city the dogs shall eat; and him that dieth in the field shall the fowls of the air eat. 1 Kgs 21:25 But there was none like unto Ahab, which did sell himself to work wickedness in the sight of the LORD, whom Jezebel his wife stirred up. 2 Kgs 10:11 So Jehu slew all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his kinsfolks, and his priests, until he left him none remaining. 1 Kgs 16:31 And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him. 1 Kgs 18:19 Now therefore send, and gather to me all Israel unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, which eat at Jezebel's table. False prophets in the church eat at Jezebel’s table. Find a false prophet and you will find women or men operating under the spirit of Jezebel. Jezebel causes an inversion of spiritual authority from men to women and from elders to young people ruling over the church. She also causes sexual inversion as whole nations under this spirit will become sodomites in the last days. 1 Kgs 19:2 Then Jezebel sent a messenger unto Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to morrow about this time. 1 Kgs 21:5 But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread? 1 Kgs 21:7 And Jezebel his wife said unto him, Dost thou now govern the kingdom of Israel? arise, and eat bread, and let thine heart be merry: I will give thee the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite. 2 Kgs 9:22 And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, Is it peace, Jehu? And he answered, What peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many? As long as the spirit of Jezebel rules a house, a church, or a nation, there shall be no peace. She will drive a man to please her and not satisfy him with true love, but will provoke lust in him to control him. The man will resent and hate this control, but through passivity, will be unable to stop it. 2 Kgs 9:30 And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. Rev 2:20 Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. Ahab married a pagan wife, in direct disobedience to God. She was a beautiful and lustful woman, a whore and a witch. Ahab put his own lustful desires ahead of God. Many a man has been ruined by a beautiful woman who has no spirituality. As Solomon was corrupted by the pagan wives he had, Jezebel stirred up Ahab to murder Naboth and send the whole nation into idolatry. Ahab is the prototype of the worst in men, selfish, immature, greedy, lustful, and carnal. Jezebel is the epitome of evil in a woman – manipulative and greedy with witchcraft, sorcery, harlotry, and idolatry. What started as rebellion and deception in Eve is culminating in Jezebel and her spirit is still around in the churches in Revelation. She calls herself a prophetess and proves that witchcraft can easily pose as spiritual gifts, as it does today. In fact, most charismatic gifts in the church are done in the spirit of Jezebel and witchcraft. The fruit of these “gifts” will be sexual sin and idolatry. When women rule over men, it causes the breakdown of society. Even though Jezebel was the really wicked one, Ahab, through passivity and lust, gave up his birthright and caused a whole nation to apostasize. The spirit of Jezebel is a spirit of deception and even movements like Promise Keepers, which is ostensibly trying to reestablish male authority, is run by the spirit of Jezebel and the ultimate manifestation of this spirit, the Roman Catholic Church. Jehu and Elijah are two good spirits that we must loose against Ahab and Jezebel. Jehu destroyed her and her sons, but did not prize the word of God and so fell away from God. Elijah was not afraid of anything, but he was afraid of Jezebel. Never stop fighting this spirit and stay in the Word. Don’t be afraid of your wives who yell and scream because they are under Jezebel’s control. Understand they don’t know what they are doing. If you must bear with her until she is delivered, the Lord will reward you if you seek to be the spiritual leader and get delivered from Ahab and bind Jezebel in your wife. God will get on her case until she also repents and seeks deliverance. These spirits are so ingrained in the personality and training as a child that they are extremely difficult for the person to see in themselves. Pray for discernment and against self deception in this area.
THE MYSTERY COUPLE: THE WOMAN AND THE BEAST Rev 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. Rev 17:4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: Rev 17:6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. Rev 17:7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. Rev 17:9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. Rev 17:18 And the woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. Rev 17:3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. Rev 17:7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. Rev 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. The manifestation of the evil woman reaches its historical culmination in the mystery couple: the Woman who rides the beast and the Beast. The Woman is Rome and the spirit of pagan Rome has transferred into the church. The Beast is the coming antichrist and the world government that he will rule. Note that the woman rides the beast, not the beast riding the woman. Satan will use the coming world religion that has persecuted the saints for hundreds of years - her cup is full of the blood of saints and martyrs. She will rise through witchcraft and seduction and is the full manifestation of the evil charm and witchcraft of women like Eve, Delilah, and Jezebel. She is full of murder. Jezebels children are killed with death. All seventy of Ahab’s sons were killed. Eve’s son Abel was killed by Cain. The Woman to come will be a world wide Christian religion filled with murder and sorcery and idolatry that will kill and in turn be killed. It is always the man’s fault for allowing the spirit of Jezebel and witchcraft to rule over him. Even if he must lose the wife that he loves, he must follow God with all his heart. If we seek deliverance from spirits of Ahab and passivity and lust, God will get on our wives cases to get free. If we allow these spirits to reign, the spirit of Jezebel will destroy the family, the church, and the nation. Often, the spirit of Jezebel and Ahab will bring prosperity to a couple under the influence of them. This prosperity is the blessing of Satan to keep them bound by these demons. Greed in men under Ahab in both the secular and church world keeps them distracted and passive to the manipulations of Jezebel. In the midst of this apparent prosperity, the real wealth of the man, such as his children and spiritual heritage and rewards are destroyed. His eyes are put out. |
